Pildammsparken

Pildammsparkens special history and neo-classicism formation makes it unique among the parks in Northern Europe. Since the planning has been made in different stages a interesting and distinctive park has taken its form. The ponds in the park were from the beginning the city of Malmoes water reservoir. The name Pildammarna comes from the fact that Willow trees were planted along the ponds aprons to reinforce them. The water was lead to official pumps at Stortorget, were the citizens fetched their water. As a green area the spot around the ponds were meaningful for the citizens of Malmoe long before the park even were considered. In Pildammsparken you will find tons of birds, Crown princess Margaretas flower street, ponds, lush sections, meadows and avenues. You can jog here, watch an outside concert, celebrate Walpurgis, visit the gourmet restaurant Bloom, look at theatre under open air, have a picnic or just enjoy the sun.
