Home Decorating

To decorate after a theme is easier than you might think. Seek inspiration online, in magazines and in books. If you want an exotic theme in a room you can go for colourful fabrics, candles, soft pillows and rugs, huge green plants and low tables. If you´re not interested in decorating a whole room after a theme, it is both fun and pretty to decorate just a small part of your apartment or house – for example your balcony. At Indiska and Åhléns you´ll find inexpensive home furnishing.

Slottsparken

Slottsparken

At the end of the 19th century, Malmö municipality contacted the Danish landscape architect Edvard Glaesel who proposed an exhaustive transformation of the low-lying and marshy land which is today Malmö Castle Park (Slottsparken). The work on the park started in 1897 and was finished in 1900 when the park opened to the general public. Today, Malmö Castle Park is a typical example of landscaping at the turn of the century with large wooded areas, open areas laid to lawn, sledge runs, outlooks and numerous seated areas - all in all around 21 hectares. Water was the recurrent theme in the new park with two large ponds and a peat-bog with a manmade spring shaped like a small Japanese garden. In the centre of the park is a large monumental plaza that ends with a statue by the artist Carl Mille Pegasusnext to the large pond. The heart of the park is the popular 'Saturday place' which to this day is used for picnics, concerts and various other events. There is also a café at Slottsträdgårdens Café.
